Highland Rotary Club's 40th Birthday Bash at Casa Milanese

(Aired April 14, 2024)

Steve Laubach, the five-time president of the Highland Rotary Club, has been actively involved in numerous community projects over the years. Under his leadership, the club has hosted several events aimed at fostering community engagement and providing entertainment, all while giving back to the people of Highland. Among the highlighted events is an upcoming comedy night featuring Joey Cola, a renowned comedian known for his captivating pre-show entertainment for TV audiences. This event isn’t just about laughter; it’s a gesture of appreciation to the community, as Steve notes, "It's just a fun night for us to give back to our community for all the help they give us."

Another significant initiative led by the Highland Rotary Club involves the distribution of Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) throughout the community. This life-saving project was inspired by a speaker who was saved by an AED, highlighting the dire need for accessible defibrillators. The club didn’t just fund a single unit but took on the project to equip the entire area, enhancing emergency responses within the community. Reflecting on the impact of these initiatives, Steve shares, "We listened to her and we just started looking around the room with each other and go, we can do this." This proactive approach underlines the club's commitment to health and safety.

The Highland Rotary Club’s efforts showcase a blend of fun, camaraderie, and serious community service, demonstrating the enduring impact of collective action led by committed individuals like Steve Laubach. As he humorously remarks about the ease of using AEDs, "Yeah, even Rotarians can do it," he underscores the accessibility and importance of these life-saving devices. Through comedy nights, life-saving equipment, and various community service projects, the Highland Rotary Club, steered by Laubach, continues to serve and inspire their community.
