Celebrate Italian Heritage: Ulster County Fest Awaits!

Aired October 6th 2024

The Ulster County Italian Festival, a cherished annual event, is set to celebrate its ninth iteration on October 13th at Kingston's scenic waterfront, known as The Strand. As detailed by Tony Marmo, past district governor and notable Rotarian, this festival promises an enriching cultural experience, infused with the vibrant spirit of the Italian community.

Anthony Tampone, the festival president, along with a dedicated team, has organized an event that is expected to draw large crowds, thanks to its appealing mix of authentic Italian cuisine, lively entertainment, and community engagement. The festival will start at noon and continue until 8 PM, featuring over 60 vendors offering a plethora of Italian delicacies—from fresh pasta and meatballs to traditional sausage and peppers and brick oven pizza.

Transportation to the venue will be facilitated by shuttles from Kingston Plaza and Kingston High School, addressing the anticipated parking challenges. Emphasizing the family-friendly and inclusive nature of the festival, the event is designed to be welcoming to all, including pets.

Highlighting the entertainment, the festival has scheduled a range of performers who specialize in Italian-American classics, ensuring that the musical backdrop enhances the cultural immersion. Moreover, the event will include unique attractions such as a spaghetti eating contest, which adds a playful element to the festivities.

In his narrative, Tony Marmo eloquently captures the essence of the festival: "We urge people to get there as early as possible because parking is always a little bit of an issue." This statement not only sets practical expectations for attendees but also underscores the festival's popularity and community-wide anticipation.
